Winter, 2015
It's time for Alumnae Reunion 2015!
Greetings of the New Year to you!  The "New Year" means that the annual Alumnae Reunion is right around the corner.  Mark your calendar and join your classmates on  Saturday, April 18,  2015 for a day of renewed friendships, prayer, visiting with Sisters, class photos and more! Click here  for a schedule of the day and Registration Form.
CLASS REPRESENTATIVES
For many years, the Alumnae Association has depended on Class Representatives to relay information to classmates, update classmates' contact information, and encourage attendance at reunions and other events.  We are currently creating a database of Class Representatives.   Were you a Class Representative in the past?  If so, would you like to continue in that role?   If you didn't serve in this capacity in the past, but would like to do so now, please contact us.   There is a special need right now for representatives of the classes whose graduation years end in '0' or '5.'  Please send your name (including maiden name), year of graduation, email address and phone number to alumnae@mariakaupascenter.com , or call 773-925-8686 ext. 7.  Thank you!
Sisters of St. Casimir  "continuing to move" &  "wake up the world"

 Sister Margaret Zalot, SSC

You might have seen or heard the phrase being used in conjunction with this year of consecrated life:  Wake Up the World.  Tha t was the challenge Pope Francis gave to men and women religious all over the world.  It was the challenge he gives to us Sisters of St. Casimir.

We're still moving.  Currently there are 23 sisters in assisted living (2 more will move to assisted living on February 19th), 3 sisters are currently in skilled care, and by February 20th there will be 12 sisters in independent living (2 of these will be at Marian Village in Homer Glen) but everyone else will be in Franciscan Village in Lemont.  And believe it or not the sisters who have moved have discovered former alumnae from SCA-MHS who are residents or children of residents or on staff - small world!  And they have much to say to each other. These sisters would love to hear from you (by phone, mail, or email) or have a visit with you.  The alumnae board is planning a March 14th visit.  You can call our Motherhouse at 773-776-1324 to get the contact information you need to make connections with one of your sister teachers or classmates.  MORE

GCAC HALL OF FAME

Reprinted with permission from the Sisters of St. Casimir Update

Last March 23rd, the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) inducted the Maria "Mystic" Basketball teams from 1979-80, 1981-82, and 1982-83 (2nd place at state) i nto the GCAC Hall of Fame.  Ten women from these winning teams along with their families and friends were present for this event, which took place at Monastero's Ristorante & Banquets on Pulaski and Devon in Chicago.  The Maria Mystics were the first GCAC basketball team to qualify for the IHSA State Championship in 1980 as part of the Elite 8 who had won Regional, Sectional, and Super-Sectional competitions.  Sisters Elizabeth Ann Yocius and Margaret Zalot were there to congratulate these women and witness the Maria spirit that is still alive.  MORE
